is it?
We all
want good mental health, but just what does mental health
mean? That’s almost a trick question because mental health means
different things to different people. It is sometimes described as
a state of emotional well-being Most mentally healthy people enjoy
life and usually:
- Feel good about themselves.
- Feel comfortable around other
people.
- Meet the challenges and changes of
life.
- Have satisfying relationships with
others.
- Have healthy self-esteem.
- Take pride in their
accomplishments.
- Look forward to the future.
- Enjoy their job or school.
But we all have times when
we feel a bit overwhelmed by all of life’s ups and downs. Many
people believe that major mental and emotional disorders are rare;
that such things only happen to a few people. The fact is that one
in five individuals will suffer from a mental disorder sometime
during their lifetime.
